With the central theme "Opportunities and challenges to the pharmacist in oncology: from patient safety to precision medicine", the 10th Brazilian Congress of Oncology Pharmacists (SOBRAFO 2020) took place between the 16th and 21st of November 2020 in a completely online edition due to the restrictions imposed by the Brazilian health authorities against the pandemic caused by Sars-CoV-2.
During a week with more than 40 hours of scientific programming and more than 1,600 registrants, the SOBRAFO 2020 counted on the participation of renowned national and international speakers who addressed themes related to four main fields of oncology pharmacy - manipulation, management, clinical activities and contemporary topics. The opening session addressed "The growing role of precision and personalized medicine for cancer treatment" and highlighted the importance of new aspects of medicine to oncology pharmacists.
Within the scientific agenda, occurred parallel meetings such as Masterclass of Precision Medicine and those organized by Stem Cell Transplantation, Oncopediatrics and Palliative Care technical commissions of SOBRAFO. All took place during the event with themes of great relevance in the context of oncology pharmacy in the country and the world.
The registrants were able to interact with Brazilian renowned specialists in various areas of oncology pharmacy. As in the session "Talk to the Specialist", in which "Accreditation: how to prepare?", "Assessment of Technologies in Oncology", "Economic Assessments in Oncology" and “Medication handling in Veterinary Oncology ” were discussed.
A total of 82 scientific abstracts from SOBRAFO 2020 were presented as e-poster on the Congress website during the event. The Congress' Scientific Papers Evaluation Committee granted an award to the three best abstracts. All approved abstracts were published in “Revista Brasileira de Cancerologia”, Volume 67, Issue 1 (Supplement).
