By Evelyn Handel, ISOPP President
At long last, it was so wonderful to see many of you last month at our first in-person meeting in over 3 years at the XXI International Symposium on Oncology Pharmacy Practice (ISOPP 2023) in the beautiful city of Seville, Spain! Our symposium theme this year was “Collaborate to Innovate” and it was inspiring and energizing to share knowledge and compare innovative best practices with colleagues from around the world and to engage in global collaboration to advance the care of oncology patients throughout the world.
The March newsletter shares details and updates from ISOPP23, including how you can access the recording of our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the educational sessions through ISOPP’s Virtual Library. I would especially like to thank all our volunteers, presenters, attendees, sponsors, Sea to Sky, and our gracious hosts from GEDEFO/SEFH for helping to make the symposium a success.
As announced at the AGM, our 2023 to 2024 Secretariat has been formed and we are looking forward to an exciting and productive year ahead. Congratulations to our new President Elect, Netty Cracknell, to Tiene Bauters on her second term as a General Member, and welcome to our new incoming General Members, Manit Saeteaw and Kofi Mensah. Welcome also to our new incoming committee Chairs, Nick Duncan for the Research Committee and Esin Aysel Kandemir for the Advocacy Committee. Much gratitude and appreciation to the outgoing Secretariat members and Committee chairs, Shaun O'Connor (Past President), Hisanaga Nomura (General Secretariat Member), Jennifer Jupp (Research Chair), and John Wiernikowski (Advocacy Chair) for all your contributions and ongoing support.
In other exciting news, I encourage you to take advantage of a new joint membership benefit in collaboration with the British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA). We are excited to now offer a discount for members who join both BOPA and ISOPP. Please read below for more details, and don’t forget to renew your ISOPP membership this year if you haven’t already!
It is with great excitement that I look forward to seeing each other again at our next ISOPP Symposium in the beautiful city of Melbourne, Australia. In the meantime, I encourage you to support ISOPP by spreading the word about the value of ISOPP and by encouraging others to join our community. If you would like to become more involved, please email me at president@isopp.org if you wish to participate on any of the Committees, Task Forces, or Work Groups. Also, please email anytime with suggestions and ideas that you may have.
Thank you for being a part of the ISOPP community.
