Excellence in Oncology Pharmacy Practice - Gulf Online Learning Series - Lung Cancer Session

Building on past collaborations with AstraZeneca Gulf and the Saudi Oncology Pharmacy Assembly (SOPA) , ISOPP presents the content for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Course Online Learning Series taking place monthly from June 2023.  This educational opportunity is geared to intermediate and experienced Clinical pharmacists specializing in oncology in Saudi Arabia, UAE and other Gulf countries. The seven-part series is an invitation-only scientific exchange forum for clinical pharmacists across the Gulf.  The initiative aims to educate pharmacists on recent trends in oncology and international standards.

Lung Cancer Session

Session Description:

Early and Metastatic Non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC): Overview, rationale and management of actionable biomarkers and optimal immunotherapy use.

Session Objectives: 

  • Provide an overview on screening, diagnosis and staging (III & IV) of lung cancer (including role of biomarkers)
  • Provide a highlight of basic principles of management of lung cancer (NSCLC and SCLC)
  • Discuss roles of Immunotherapy , anti-EGFR therapy and tyrosine kinase inhibitors in management of lung cancer and management of relevant drug toxicities
  • 1-2 case studies
  • Management of immune check point inhibitor toxicity

Alison Palumbo PharmD, MPH, BCOP is a Clinical Oncology Pharmacist at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon, USA.
